Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

I provide photo services for weddings, elopements, engagements, and proposals. Headshots, conferences, and events for businesses and organizations. I also do individual and couples pictures along with family photos. Most of my photo shoots are in a location of your choice. Please contact me here if you have a vision that is not listed here.

What is your background?

I was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland, and moved to the US in 2014 to pursue a career in photography in NYC. I was a chef in my late teens and early twenties and had been shooting semi-professionally on the side. I applied to Parsons School of Design and got in! I was fascinated by documentary photography early on and transitioned to the editorial and fashion world along with my studies. I always shot a wedding or two every year through mutual connections in addition to capturing events, parties, and galas. I started to shoot more and more weddings and in 2019, I found that wedding and event photography brings me the most joy.

Who have you worked with in the past?

In addition to all the lovely weddings, engagements, and elopements in Connecticut. I have worked with Vanity Fair as an on-site editor and retoucher during the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in 2019 and 2020. I shot and edited videos for InStyle on numerous editorial shoots. I photographed the Barbershop Conference at the United Nations in 2017 for UN Women. I covered a lot of events and fundraising galas for the French-American Foundation and realty company KRANTZ + KRANTZ. In 2018, Inspired by Iceland commissioned me to photograph the Icelandic national soccer team as they prepared for the Fifa World Cup.

What do I do with my hands? I have never had my pictures taken.

Trust me! I sometimes feel completely awkward in front of the camera. This is why I feel engagement sessions are important, they help break the ice for your actual wedding portraits.

I am not a big fan of posing or completely directing, that just feels so outdated. I like to have a consultation meeting and work with my clients on mood boards to get a better sense of their personalities and style. I like to provide guidance, I will put you and your partner in a beautiful spot with amazing light and let you take it from there – and I’ll definitely throw in a silly joke or two to have you laughing. You can check out a few of my links from Instagram for more resources.

In regards to your hands – they are usually fine when they are not in your pockets, haha. Here are 9 Natural Poses for Weddings and Engagements.

What is your photography style like?

My photographic style is a mix of photojournalism, documentary, and editorial fashion photography. Photojournalism is completely candid and unposed. Documentary style has the observational qualities of photojournalism sprinkled with the stylized looks of editorial pictures.

Most of the time, I am in the background, but I am always seeking authenticity in my photographs

How long will take for us to receive our wedding pictures?

My turnaround time for your wedding pictures is usually about 3-5 weeks. It can be sooner than that though in the winter months whereas it is usually the longest around September, October, and November. It can occasionally stretch into 6-7 weeks during the busiest weeks in May and October.

What about a second shooter?

I have a second photographer available in some of my wedding collections. Here’s why having one is a great idea

  • Seamless capture of you and your partner getting ready, this is especially helpful when you are preparing in different locations.

  • A second shooter can focus on your family and friends’ reactions during the wedding ceremony and provide multiple angles.

  • A second shooter can cover the cocktail hour with your guests while we step away to do your beautiful wedding portraits.

  • A second shooter is also beneficial in venues with multiple rooms and/or outdoor patios.

Will you be the one photographing our wedding?

Yes! I capture all weddings myself. On occasion, I’ll recommend adding a lighting assistant if I feel it is needed but that’s always a discussion that occurs in the first weeks of us working together.

Do you have any travel fees?

Yes and no.

Travel is included in all wedding photography packages that are 8 hours or longer. If you are not sure whether you are located within my service area, just get in touch. Travel fees apply for shorter wedding packages and other sessions outside the Hartford metro area. If you have an evening event and an overnight stay is required, I kindly ask to be reimbursed for lodging.

Do you shoot digitally? On film? Or other formats?

In addition to my two digital SLR cameras and lenses, I also offer film photography on both 35mm and 120mm film, black & white and color. I develop and scan everything in my studio, so it usually takes a little bit longer to deliver than our digital files. It is a true labor of love. I also shoot polaroids. Please inquire about prices per roll of film.
