Hi!

My name is Kári (pronounced cow-rih or kah-rih but I am not super picky about it — anything but Carrie, lol) I am an Connecticut wedding photographer but I also dabble in portraiture, commercial photography, and other happy gatherings. I am based out of West Hartford, CT and available worldwide.

I was born and raised in Iceland, and before being a photographer, I was a chef. I went to culinary school and worked in fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants in Iceland, Europe, and on the east coast of the United States. I spent most of my time off taking pictures until I moved to the United States in 2014 to pursue photography at Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Along with and after my studies I worked as a freelance photographer, videographer, and editor. My previous editorial and commercial clients include Vanity Fair, InStyle, UN Women, The French-American Foundation, Plug & Play, KRANTZ + KRANTZ, NPR, and Inspired by Iceland.

I have also exhibited my work on both sides of the Atlantic, most notably at Aperture Gallery in New York City, Eastern State Penitentiary Museum in Philadelphia, Fotografiska in Stockholm, Sweden, and my first solo exhibition was at I Kring 03 in Reykjavik, Iceland in 2019.

Throughout my entire career, I have photographed a lot of weddings and events and found that I am the happiest when I capture authentic joyful moments.
