9 Natural Poses for Weddings and Engagements

Making an effort to make your images look effortless

Throughout my career, not only as a wedding photographer in Northwest Arkansas but as a photographer in general, this tends to be the most popular question I get from my subjects.

“How do we pose?”

This is really where the magic of engagement sessions comes in, not only are they a great way for us to get to know each other a little bit and make you more comfortable in front of the camera. It also helps you practice some poses for your wedding portrait session on your big day.

My approach to wedding photography is making an effort to make your images look effortless. I try to stay in the back as much as possible to capture authentic moments. There are however parts where posing is required and in those, I try to keep everything as natural and genuine as possible and mix still poses with movement prompts and silly jokes to keep the atmosphere light. I am drawn to the moments that happen right before and after the pose, so to say — which is why I often keep shooting after the pose moment happens, when couples look at each other and smile.
