An Almost all Black Wedding at Osage House
I met Amber and Dakota in spring 2022 over zoom and got pretty excited when they mentioned that they were having their fall wedding at Osage House in Cave Springs — and not only that but also on their 9th date anniversary. Osage House is just one of those venues that is always so fun to shoot at! The antelope in the groom’s suite is a personal favorite, haha. But in all seriousness, this venue is just a dream.
The First Look
Say what you want about first looks. I am all for as many private moments as possible on a wedding day, and that includes a first look. There is nothing that beats the groom’s look as the bride walks down the aisle but the first look offers an intimate setting for the couple to truly let everything soak in, just by themselves.
I learned during the family photos that Dakota’s dad had been hospitalized and had just been discharged the afternoon of the wedding and joined everybody for the family pictures.
The Ceremony at Osage Chapel
Besides that amazing antelope in the main building. The chapel itself is an incredible piece of art. It is rare that a wedding chapel is so perfectly lit, almost no matter the time of day or season. The windows let in enough light that bounces beautifully off the pure white walls to create an otherworldly atmosphere for photos. Amber and Dakota had a simple ceremony with a mutual friend officiating and I snapped a few polaroids of them during the ceremony that they then sealed off in a time capsule.
Reception at The Hall
The reception was full of love from family and friends, and endless snapshots that two little girls took on little Fuji insta cameras. Amber and Dakota’s grand entrance was from the upper-level balcony which is another level. It lets the whole party join in and celebrate as they enter first as a married couple. It’s also pretty great for taking group shots of all the guests!
