Lord Thompson Manor: Wedding Venue in NorthEastern Connecticut
Lord Thompson Manor is one of Connecticut and New England’s most premier wedding venues. The venue is like a gorgeous escape from New England life. It’s right on the border of both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, so it’s not too far from Boston, but nicely located in the woods of a small town, also named Thompson. The venue and the entire property instantly makes you feel like you’re in a European castle.
Service at the venue
The service is something to write home to mom about too. New England wedding venues tend to have much better service than most venues I’ve shot at in the US (and I’ve been to many states) but this is something special.
Typically, couples can get ready at the offsite KISS spa. Which brings another layer of perfect service to their day. Many couples have a long weekend around their wedding date, for example.
Historic Charm and Scenic Location
Lord Thompson Manor is located in the countryside of northeastern Connecticut, in a beautifully restored 18th-century manor, which gives it an old-world charm, filled with combined with modern amenities for couples looking to get married. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for ceremonies and receptions. I’d say the venue really shines from spring to fall but you can easily host a winter wedding there as well.
Outdoor Ceremony Options
The venue features several outdoor locations that are ideal for a ceremony. Some of the most popular spots include:
The Garden Terrace: A scenic outdoor setting surrounded by lush gardens and greenery, perfect for a romantic outdoor ceremony.
The Pavilion: A bit more rustic, but still elegant, open-air setting, the Pavilion is a thoughtfully designed space with views of the surrounding landscape.
The Manor and Indoor Reception Spaces
The Great Hall: Inside the manor, the Great Hall is the main reception space where most couples either opt to have their ceremony. It is also the main backup plan for rainy days. It has a grand, elegant and warm feel, crystal chandeliers, and large windows. This space is ideal for formal receptions, accommodating up to 150 guests. The entire property can take up to about 250-300 guests.
The Ballroom: Another option for indoor celebrations, the Ballroom features very classic and very warm décor, with modern touches. It's versatile and can be transformed to suit various wedding styles, from elegant to more contemporary.
The venue’s indoor areas also include cozy lounges and spaces for cocktail hour or after-dinner relaxation.
Accommodations and Bridal Suite
Lord Thompson Manor provides on-site accommodations, making it pretty convenient for not only couples, but also guests who may be coming in from out of state. This also makes the venue superb for long wedding weekends that start on a Friday with a welcome party and with Sunday brunch.
The manor has several rooms that can be reserved for overnight stays, and there are additional lodging options nearby for larger groups. The Bridal Suite is a spacious, private room designed for the couple to relax before the ceremony. The groom’s suite is also available for the groom and groomsmen to prepare.
