A Chic Wedding at Greenhouse Two Rivers

I had this endless joyful feeling on the 2-hour drive home to Fayetteville from Greenhouse Two Rivers after Wendy and Colten’s wedding day. It felt so good to document their love story!

We met up over zoom earlier in 2022 and booked their engagement session at the Mizumoto Stroll Gardens in Springfield, MO where they live and work. I normally don’t travel this far for engagement shoots but the garden just looked too good (so I also brought my film cameras!)

As I have already mentioned in my venue guide, Greenhouse Two Rivers is an ideal wedding venue if you want to spend a lot of time outdoors and around greenery on your wedding day but also have a unique and beautifully designed indoor event space, that is also covered in greenery. Wendy wanted 3 first looks once she was ready, one with her bridesmaids, one with her dad, and then one with Colten along with reading a love letter they wrote to each other. All three were filled with emotion, joy, and tears!

After the first look sessions and wedding party photos we headed back in for touch-ups and a few glasses of water, it was Labor Day weekend after all! The summer heat was still in full force. Colten paid homage to the city of Springfield with his accessories, his tie was decorated with an altitude map of the city and his socks had the airport code, SGF. He works as an engineer for the city. They were just a few of the neat little touches I noticed.

Just like the sessions earlier in the day. Wendy and Colten’s ceremony ran the entire scale of emotion. From beautiful laughter to tears of joy. One of my favorite moments to catch is the groom’s reaction as the bride walks down the aisle. Usually, the reaction is a little more tame when the couple has already had a first look but Colten let it all out as Wendy walked down with her father laughing, and it was just the sweetest!

Things loosened up even more after the ceremony and family photos. The Mixtapes, a 90s tribute band played all the greatest hits from the best decade ever. It felt pretty good having grown up in the 90s and hearing The Cardigans and Blink 182 playing at a wedding reception :) In between the speeches, dances, and cake-cutting, we sneaked out for sunset photos before diving back onto the dance floor!

And what is a wedding without a grand exit? Wendy and Colten had all of their guests line up outside the venue for another fun-filled moment, a sparkler exit with the both bride and groom being dip-kissed, at least an attempt at one :)

Congratulations again on your wedding day, Wendy and Colten!
